Read the book, magazine, article, or sentences to the disabled person. Ask them to point letters of a word on the sturdy, black plastic stencil alphabet board with a closed pen or marker or safe pencil in order to point on each letter to spell a word. If the disabled person is unable to point to spell the letters of a word, then assist the person with the teacher indicating letters. In this way, the teacher will additionally read the book, magazine, article, or sentences to assist the disabled person in hearing information.
